Spitfire Restoration News - June 2005

Well, summer is truly upon us: the kids have been released from school and we have a few months of having to watch out for all these precocious kids along our roads.

With us taking the summer off to raise money, not much has happened in the hangar over the past month. We still continue to open the hangar Saturdays and Sundays to allow all our visitors to come through and see our project.

We are also working on getting the fuselage ready for display at our Air Show this August 7th. To that end we have given the fuselage a basic coat of paint. You can see this paint here. Eventually over the next few weeks we will paint on the call-sign and the serial numbers. So for those in the area please come out to the Air Show to see what our project looks like now.

We would also like to thank the people at Advanced Processing of Toronto. This company has agreed to assist us in the CAD Plating of certain steel fittings that needed to be done.

One of the other jobs we managed to finally get done was the installation of a sign at the road. Here we see two of the intrepid volunteers who assisted in digging through rock and gravel to install this lovely sign. With the new sign on the road there is no excuse for anybody to say we could not find the hangar. Eventually we will have installed a small sign above this one with our hours of operation listed. Until then remember, we are open Saturdays 10:00am - 3:00pm and Sundays (for the summer) from 12:00noon - 4:00pm.

On behalf of the volunteers, have a great summer. We look forward to seeing you either at our hangar or at the upcoming 19 Wing Air Show, August 7th, 2005.
